Tubulin, Porcine

Tubulin, a globular protein, polymerizes into long chains or filaments that form microtubules, hollow fibers which serve as a skeletal system for living cells. Tubulin is composed of a heterodimer of two closely related 55K dalton proteins called alpha and beta tubulin. These two proteins are encoded by separate genes, whose sequences are highly conserved in all eukaryotes.
