Alpha 1 Antichymotrypsin, Human Plasma
AD patients seem to express increased alpha 1-Antichymotrypsin (AACT) index, suggesting an intrathecal production of AACT. Indeed, AACT is a major component of the amyloid plaques found in the brains of AD patients. In Parkinson’s disease (PD), AACT gene has been suggested as a susceptibility factor that might be related to the onset of PD.
