Porcine brain tubulin is isolated from porcine brains. Fully active for polymerization.
Tubulin, a globular protein, polymerizes into long chains or filaments that form microtubules, hollow fibers which serve as a skeletal system for living cells. Tubulin is composed of a heterodimer of two closely related 55K dalton proteins called alpha and beta tubulin. These two proteins are encoded by separate genes, whose sequences are highly conserved in all eukaryots.
55 kD, heterodimer is ~110 kD
